DFG accepts application on harbour research

The German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, ‘DFG’) has accepted the application for a special research project under the heading “Harbours – from the Roman Iron Age to the Middle Ages. The archaeology and history of regional and supra-regional transportation networks”.
Joint applicants are: C. von Carnap-Bornheim (ALM/ZBSA), F. Daim (Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum, Mainz), P. Ettel (Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena), U. Warnke (Deutsches Schiffahrtsmuseum, Bremerhaven). The project will begin in 2012 and last 2 x 3 years. The coordinated, interdisciplinary research will investigate harbours in Europe during the above-mentioned period.
